According to media reports from the Canadian Newsstand database, dog-bite injuries between 1990 and 2007 resulted in the death of 28 Canadians. While the majority of dogs and other domestic animals are friendly companions, there have been cases when mixed-breed, stray and aggressive puppies or adult canines have attacked innocent bystanders. If you or a loved one has been attacked and/or bitten by a volatile dog, you are entitled to seek justice against the pet’s owner. Under The Dog Owners’ Liability Act, the owner of a dog is responsible for damages and/or injuries if their pet bites or attacks another person.

A De Rose lawyer will guide you towards your compensation, so you can concentrate on your well-being.

Without being properly socialized and trained, dogs may pose a threat to public safety. Always remember:

  • Never leave a small child alone with a dog
  • Always ask permission before petting another person’s dog
  • Never chase or tease a dog, touch their ears or their tails
  • Dogs have emotions, too. Treat them with respect
  • If a dog begins to growl at you, walk backwards slowly instead of running away
  • Avoid touching their toys, food and bones
